  Page Menus

The Page menu is a CMS control that is a part of your site's skin. The menu is dynamically built based on the heirarchical organization of the site's pages. Although the menu may be configured in various ways the most common setup is for all top-level pages to be displayed as a series of horizontal or vertical links. When the mouse is passed over a link a pop-up menu is displayed containing links to the top-level (parent) pages sub-level (child) pages.

Where a page is placed in your site's page structure is set when initially creating the page. To move an existing page in the page structure click on the Admin -> Pages link on the main menu to display the Pages adminstration page. The level at which a page is placed in the page structure is represented by its identation level. Refer to Figure 1:

  • The Skins page is a top-level page and has no indentation.
  • The Skins page has 2 child pages called Content Panes and Demos. Child pages are idented 1 level more than their parent (each ident level is represented by 3 dots).
  • The Demos page has 1 child page called VCSSO Skins. In this case the child is idented twice so that it is idented 1 level more than its parent.

Pages

Just as the level of identation determines at what level a page is placed in your site's main menu so does the order listed. Which page is listed first on main menu and each sub-menu is based on the top-to-bottom order the page is listed on the Pages administration page.

Both the identation level and order listed can be changed (Figure 1) using the Move Page arrows. Click on the page that you would like to move* and then use the right/left arrows to change the identation and use the up/down arrows to change the order listed. The main menu will be immediately updated.

* - when a page is moved in order listed all child and sub-child pages are moved along with it.
